(六種震動, 六种震动)

The six earthquakes, or earth-shakings, also [lang id =1028]六種動相, of which there are three different categories. I, Those at the Buddha's conception, birth, enlightenment, first preaching, when Māra besought him to live, and at his nirvana; some omit the fifth and after 'birth' add 'leaving home '.

The six different kinds of shaking of the chiliocosm, or universe, when the Buddha entered into the (sa) samādhi of joyful wandering, see [lang id =1028]大品般若經 1, i. e. east rose and west sank, and so on with w. e., n. s., s. n., middle and borders, borders and middle.

III.

Another group is shaking, rising, waving, reverberating, roaring, arousing, the first three referring to motion, the last three to sounds; see the above [lang id =1028]般若經; which in later translations gives shaking, rising, reverberating, beating, roaring, crackling.

﹝出華嚴經疏﹞ 六種震動者， 動、 起、 涌三種， 是形； 震、 吼、 擊三種， 是聲。 於形聲中， 各舉一種， 故言震動。 六種中復各有三相， 遂成十八種震動之相也。 〔一、 動〕， 動者， 搖颺不安之謂。 動有三相： 一方獨動名動， 四方俱動名遍動， 八方齊動名普遍動。 〔二、 起〕， 起者， 自下漸高之謂。 起有三相： 一方獨起名起， 四方俱起名遍起， 八方齊起名普遍起。 〔三、 涌〕， 涌者， 忽然騰舉之謂。 涌有三相： 一方獨涌名涌， 四方俱涌名遍涌， 八方齊涌名普遍涌。 〔四、 震〕， 震者， 隱隱出聲之謂。 震有三相： 一方獨震名震， 四方俱震名遍震， 八方齊震名普遍震。 〔五、 吼〕， 吼者， 雄聲猛烈之謂。 吼有三相： 一方獨吼名吼， 四方俱吼名遍吼， 八方齊吼名普遍吼。 〔六、 擊〕， 擊者， 砰磕發響之謂。 擊有三相： 一方獨擊名擊， 四方俱擊名遍擊， 八方齊擊名普遍擊。 （砰， 披萌切。 磕， 克合切。 水激石曰砰， 石相築曰磕。 ）

大地震動， 有三種的六種， 即一、 為動之六時， 即佛入胎、 出胎、 出家、 成道、 轉法輪、 入涅槃。 二、 為動之六方， 即東湧西沒、 西湧東沒、 南湧北沒、 北湧南沒、 邊湧中沒， 中湧邊沒。 三、 為動之六相， 即動、 湧、 震、 擊、 吼、 爆。 當地動時， 吾人如小兒臥搖籃中， 不覺籃動， 惟覺舒服， 故地動是表示祥瑞， 而且此六種震動， 只有天眼通的人才能知見， 凡夫則毫不知情。
